Emperor's Day is a traditional historical festival that is held in Kadaň at the end of August. This event commemorates a significant event when the town of Kadaň was visited by Charles the IV, the Roman emperor and Czech king, in 1367.
Spectators can watch the performances of musicians, dancers, jugglers or examples of torture at several venues around the historical centre of the town throughout the day. The atmosphere of the entire event is underscored by a knight encampment, the centre of which is a stylishly equipped knight's tent, mediaeval ambulance and executioner's house, where the log and stretch ladder should not be missed. Hungry and thirsty visitors can satisfy their needs in the mediaeval tavern or oriental tea house. Mediaeval games and contests for the small and large will be organised.
